Cypress has character

Cypress lumber is really beautiful. It is naturally insect and rot resistant and is very pleasing to the eye. I had a customer request for a 6"x12"x8' mantle to be cut from cypress. There was an 8' log in the yard just calling my name and ready to be cut. I was saving for just such an occasion and it was now. Upon opening the log up, there wasn't really anything that stuck out at me, but during the process of taking boards off and getting to the middle of the log, it started showing off it's beautiful character. The customer is very happy with it and that's what counts. I love opening logs up and showing off what God has created. It's truly amazing if you stop to think about what he has done.
